Tick Safety- What to know and how to stay safe!
Ticks and the diseases they transmit to humans, companion animals, and livestock are an increasing public health threat that needs to be addressed with public health outreach. Ohio alone has gone from one medically important tick twenty years ago to five ticks of consequence now, adding two new ticks in 2020. The invasive Asian Longhorned tick has spread from one state in 2017 to seventeen states currently and is forecast to continue its expansion. Global climate change has enabled tick range expansion that is resulting in new tick species and the diseases they transmit to encounter a much larger audience. Come learn about the state of ticks in Ohio and beyond plus ways to keep you, your family, and your animals tick-safe.
