An Update on TNC’s Appalachians Work
The Appalachians represent an unmatched opportunity to secure a thriving future for people and nature, even as the climate changes. Affectionately known as the Apps, this ancient chain of forested mountains, valleys, wetlands, and rivers spans roughly 2,000 miles from Alabama to Canada.

So far, just 26 percent of this valuable landscape is protected. If we continue to take the Apps for granted, we stand to lose a magnitude of species, the fight against climate change, and the security, provisions, and benefits this landscape promises to future generations.

Join us for a Nature Connects webinar to learn how TNC is accelerating the pace and scale of our work in the Appalachians. We’ll hear from Locke Ogens, the executive director of the Virginia chapter, about our strategy for the Apps, how our work relates to the people and communities of the region, and how you can help protect this important region.
